Started in 2017, Newcastle CPAs was an idea by husband and wife to pursue a business venture to enrich others that saw taxes, bookkeeping and other accounting services as daunting and unpleasant. Built on a foundation of knowledge gained from working in public accounting and private industry, Newcastle CPAs wants to support and collaborate with fellow neighbors and businesses and be accessible wherever and whenever. We want to take away any anxiety and stress that comes with filing your taxes or running a business. When it comes to fees, we will charge a fair rate and be as transparent as possible. Let's work together to minimize time spent on filing taxes, accounting and other financial burdens and focus on the things that really matter in life such as family, friends, hiking, climbing, reading, golfing, volunteering, church activities, gardening and on and on and on!
My journey in accounting started in college when I decided to switch majors from pre-Pharm to Accounting at UW. I was intrigued by tax regulations and the IRS code. There was something real and impactful about taxes that affect all of us, either through our individual earnings or business decisions. That journey continued through to receiving a MPAcc (Master of Professional Accounting) at UW. My professional experience began at a mid-sized regional firm in Seattle and continued to a Big 4 firm, learning everything from individual tax services to federal and state business tax rules at large corporations. My goals are now focused on growing our family (welcomed little ones in 2016 and 2019) and providing the best guidance and support to all our clients.
The path to accounting has been a long and winding road. I attended UC Santa Barbara with a goal of majoring in Economics. I enjoyed my econ classes but the two accounting classes I took as electives really swayed me over! Accounting is pragmatic and I knew I could directly help people with my knowledge. Once I graduated with an Accounting degree, I spent a few years working at a CPA firm in Silicon Valley focusing on the tax and audit practice. I then decided to take my wares and move across the country to work in Manhattan and New Jersey for about two years. I then heard the PNW calling and have made Washington state my home ever since, working at both CPA firms and small to large public companies. I've now come to a time in my career where it's time to give back and focus on helping clients make the best decisions possible. I hope to meet you on this long and winding road.
